This winter has been especially cold

Saturday, September 4th, 2010

Due to all of this very extreme weather, there seems to be no better excuse than to go out and buy yourselves some UGG boots or Emu boots. These boots, as well as being very comfortable and warm, are extremely popular at the moment and many people are desperate to get hold of a pair. The price of these boots has been cited by some as a reason why they haven’t bought a pair and at around £140 for an official pair of these UGG Ultra Short Boots, it is easily understood why this can sometimes be the case.

However, once you’ve tried this UGG Sundance II Boots footwear on, you won’t want to take it off as you’ll be so warm and comfortable, you’ll wonder why you ever put up with freezing toes at winter. Another option of cosy footwear is Snowjoggers. These UGG Boots were designed by Scandinavians who know what they’re looking for when it comes to warm footwear. These boots are extremely comfortable and on top of this they also have the added benefit of having very good grips, which is a must at this time of year with all of the ice about, and of course for everyone who doesn’t want to make a fool of themselves when out shopping for the day by slipping and sliding all over the streets. Therefore, if you’re after style, comfort and the added benefit of keeping your dignity when out and about, then choose these sale ugg boots. If you’re one of the many people who worry that investing in a pair of UGG boots doesn’t make good sense for the summer months then you’d be wrong, as these boots have thermal regulators in them which means that natural fibres in the wool trap in the air, this then acts as an insulator and keeps the heat from your feet in the boots. It is very important when the temperatures drop to ensure that you keep your feet nice and warm because if you don’t you can lose a lot of body heat  from your feet. Overall, these boots can keep you; warm, comfortable, cosy, dignified, healthy and stylish all at the same time, so what better reasons do you need to go and get yourself a pair.

A Daughter Thanks Her Father

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

My neighbor, Ms White offered a job for me. I got one dollar every afternoon to watch her baby while she was attending her yoga class. Soon, I got enough money for the boots. I went to the shop and tried a pair of brown boots on, it looked great. Just before I decided to take them I remembered I would buy dad a shirt when I had enough money. It turned out I did not get anything that day. The money was everything I got, if I bought the boots I had to wait for a long time to get him a shirt.

The next day when I woke up, dad said he had got something for me. When I opened the box I screamed out. He gave me a big hug and whispered in my ears I knew how much you wanted them and I loved you.

I knew what to do with the money.

I was down for a period of time. Dad was worried and asked if I was Ok, I did not tell him the reason for I was so upset was about the boots, instead, I told him that the heavy homework was freaked me out but I got it, I was just too tired. He was relieved, poor guy, about thirty five years old but seemed almost older than forty five. Though I was young but I knew if I had the money I would buy him a nice shirt first.

After finishing my homework I would draw a few pictures for fun. I had a wall posted with this stuff. The upper part was occupied by the dogs, cats, fish, and other animals. The middle part was full of pictures of trees, flowers and other plants. The lower part was a room for the reflection of my mood. When I was having a nice day I would add to it a smiling face and beautiful sunshine, when I was pissed, there would be cloud, lighting and thunder. During that time several pictures of  new Ugg boots could be seen right next to the lousy weather. I did not expect anyone to notice it; I thought it was just me who would pay attention to them.

I was born in a family with ordinary background, mom was a waitress and dad was an engineer. Family spending was huge because of the newly purchased hours and other expenditures.

Since I was ten years old, I was crazy about Ugg boots. Walking on the street you could see girls and even guys in these fabulous boots. You have no idea how much I wanted them at that time, but I never told my parents nor asked for it. I wondered if there was some work I could do to earn some money. But it was unlikely to get one because I was too young.

Dance all around the … kitchen

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

Of course nowadays the problem with this sort of carry-on is not that I look stupid doing it (I have accepted that I will look stupid on the dance floor no matter what genre I am mangling) but that: (a) the energy levels required to overcome the inertia to get my body propelling in an upward/downward direction is, quite frankly, beyond me for any sustained period of time; and (b) when I do manage it I am a danger to those around me. Yes, these days I am much more suited to lateral forms of dance, which means I am, in effect, just like one of those icebergs that have broken off the Antarctic ice-shelf, as I drift aimlessly across the shipping lanes of the dance floor.

Thus I have taken the stance – for the safety of others and the preservation of the scant remains of my dignity – to confine my outbursts of dancing to the privacy of my own home. I shall remain, from this moment on, one of those “I’m dancing on the inside” guys; happily sitting on the sidelines, watching others do the business, dance-wise. I think it will work out for the best, for all concerned, if this is how it goes from here on. Sure, there will be those who will try to tempt me back on to the dance floor.

There will be those who will ply me with alcohol or attempt to take advantage of me when I’ve already plied myself with alcohol, in order to break down my resolve. But I shall remain resolute in my decision – for the good of humanity. The way I figure it, it takes two to tango (or foxtrot or pogo or any form of dance). There are those who dance and those who watch those who dance. And I am one of the watching sort. This is to be my lot in life.

Except, of course, if someone puts on the Violent Femmes’ Blister in the Sun, in which case I will have no choice to dance because it is a scientific fact that it is impossible not to dance to Blister in the Sun. But apart from that one song, I shall be steely in my non-dancing resolve. Except in my kitchen, of course: because in my kitchen, I rock – Ugg classic cardy boots and all.

Suddenly at least four of my limbs were working overtime (though not always harmoniously). Just to complete the picture, two of these limbs were wearing cheap ugg, which left marks on the kitchen lino as I danced up my own little storm. I’m not proud of this momentary aberration but neither am I ashamed of it. It is simply something that happens, from time to time, in the privacy of my own home, and it normally ends in me straining some part of my anatomy. I mention it only because we’re entering the office/Christmas/summer/New Year’s party time of the year, where accidental public dancing is a real danger. I am a firm believer in the notion that says whatever dance style we are socialised with is the one that will stick with us for the rest of our dancing years.

For me this was the late-70s and the early-80s; the era of punk and New Wave music.
For a rhythmically challenged white boy from the provinces, this was a Godsend in that all you have to do to dance to punk is, of course, to jump up and down pretty much on the one spot. There is nothing flash about punk/New Wave dancing.

You should have been there. You should have seen me. I was a dancing machine. I was John Travolta and Justin Timberlake, with a little bit of Beyonce thrown in for good measure.

Everyone in the house was feeling the groove and it was going off. Okay, I should confess, here and now, that the only person actually in the house at the time was me. I was on my own, doing the dishes. The iPod was on shuffle when XTC’s Senses Working Overtime came on and, well, something primal took over.

Sights, sounds of winter call for Christmas tunes

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

Chicago’s First Christmas” by Chicago — I grew up on Chicago, and this was always one of my favorite Christmas albums as a kid. A decade later, I still love this album. Chicago is such a unique rock band, with its signature horn section. This album is stuffed with really sweet arrangements of our favorite holiday songs that show off that distinctive horn/rock sound. Don’t miss their matchless version of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” or their gospel adaptation of “Let It Snow!”
“Merry Christmas” by Mariah Carey — OK men, please don’t disown me. Yes I can do lots of push-ups and I like to drink whiskey, but that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy Mrs. Nick Cannon’s incredible mid-’90s holiday album. You will hear many of these songs on your local radio station during Christmastime, but the ones that aren’t played often, especially her rendition of “O, Holy Night,” are just as stunning. Simply put, Carey is one of the greatest voices ever, and this holiday album should be in everyone’s collection.
“When My Heart Finds Christmas” by Harry Connick Jr. — This album was what turned me on to jazz, and Connick’s voice is smooth as butter. The jazz arrangements of the classic holiday songs are ridiculously good, and the big band backing up Connick is second to none. To make things even cooler, the alto saxophonist on the album was the old jazz director at Tech, Brad Leali. This CD swings. My favorite tracks are “ugg boots sale,” “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?” and “I Pray on Christmas.”
“White Christmas” by Bing Crosby — Many will argue with me that this should be number one. And they have good reason. You would be hard pressed to find a song that has more charm than Crosby’s “White Christmas” or has more class than his “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas.” Combine that with the fact your grandparents probably see Crosby as the end-all when it comes to Christmas songs, and you have one of the most influential and beloved holiday albums of all time.
“A Charlie Brown Christmas” by Vince Guaraldi Trio — Recorded in the 1960s, it is the reason we equate the Peanuts gang with Christmas. To say this album is timeless would be an understatement. I think it is the greatest holiday album of all time, and that’s not just because I’m a jazzer. This album brought us the beloved “Christmastime is Here” along with “Linus and Lucy” and the super hip “O Tannenbaum.” This album is the jam. ‘Nuff said.

uggsboots
December 3rd, 2009 Can you feel it? The brisk cold air, the massive influx of shoppers, the sorority girls busting out the Ugg boots (wait, no, that’s all year ’round).
The holidays are right around the corner. Only a little more than a week of classes left, and then I’m only a few finals away from being back home in Houston to finally watch the Rockets on TV (can’t sports TV in Lubbock show any Houston love?), enjoy some hot cocoa, and hang out with family and loved ones. But while I’m still here with you guys, I might as well make a few suggestions for music.
One of the best things about the holiday season is the outstanding music it has provided us with. And in the last 50 years, almost every artist who is anyone has made a holiday album, supplying listeners with remakes of classic Christmas songs and original holiday-themed jams. So, ladies and gentlemen of Texas Tech, I present to you my top five must-have holiday albums to get you through this season of jollity.

Yes they’re bright, they’re yellow and they’re Uggs but we have to admit the starlett looks fantastic in them. Stacey is also a girl after own hearts, wearing a Monster Munch tee, which we got so excited about yesterday.
Buy the Ugg boots from Office or go for a waterproof alternative with these short festival style wellingtons from Hunter Boots. You won’t be missed on a dark night, and that’s guaranteed.

We know some of you out there hate Ugg winter boots and wellingtons but we couldn’t resist giving you a sneaky look at X-Factor’s Stacey Solomon’s boots.

Step 3 Check for slip resistant soles. Purchase boots that have material on the bottom that will prevent falls. Some brands have rubber compound grips on the bottom of their work boots.

Step 1 Look for work boots designed specifically for your profession. Brands, nike air jordon shoes, such as Wolverine and Red Wing, cheap cardy boots, offer work boots for construction workers, puma store, electricians and mechanics.

Step 4 Try the pair of work boots on. Check to see how insulated they are. The boots should keep your feet warm during the colder months.

Step 2 Buy a pair of boots with a reinforced toe. Steel toe boots are vital for any job that requires heavy lifting.

Timberland Safety Boots have a wealth of additional safety features in their workwear to protect even the most threatened feet. They come with a steel plate in the sole so that standing on a nail is more likely to drive it further into a plank than through your foot.

A durable pair of work boots is essential for workers in many labor intensive professions. Work boots must be comfortable, long lasting and affordable. Follow these steps to find them.

Step 5 Choose leather boots. Leather work boots are more expensive than other types of boots, but the extra price is worth it. They are long lasting and resist water damage.

Step 6 Pick the color of the work boots. Choose a dark brown or black boot that will not show a lot of dirt.

Timberland鈥檚 safety work boots are ergonomically designed to support the foot, keep it dry, whilst delivering maximum protection from knocks or spillage. It is always reassuring to know that your Timberland work shoes are oil and acid resistant, that flaming napalm could be poured over them with no deleterious affect to your feet, nail guns fired accidentally would bounce off your shoes.
